Abstract
Research area is located on the Black Sea coast in southeastern peripheral part of Dobrudja plateau, Bulgaria. The site is situated within a slope affected by an ancient landslides occurred as a result of tectonic elevation of the land and active sea erosion on the basis of the slope. Currently there is no indication of landslide activation of ancient landslides except local consistent landslides in the steep part of the slope. The body of ancient landslide consists of large landslide blocks and sandy-clayey materials filling the space between them. Soil properties of landslide blocks are very close to sediments not affected by landslides. Significant decrease in physical and mechanical parameters is detected in disturbed sediments and recent consistent shallow landslides are developed in these areas. Based on the conducted engineering geological study, key findings and recommendations for development of the site are made.
