Book cover Model-Based Control of Networked Systems

Abstract

The main goal in this chapter is to adjust the update interval based on the current state of the plant. This new way of updating the state of the model is based on a simple idea, namely, to send a measurement update only when it is necessary to do so according to some criterion. The main question in this regard is how to determine when the sensor must send a measurement to update the model state in the MB-NCS setup. Event-triggered control strategies are implemented using the model-based approach. These strategies offer a more flexible way to schedule transmission of information from the sensor node to the controller node which adapts to the current needs of the system.
