Abstract
PHYSIOLOGICAL SCIENCE I welcome the constructive comments of Wolf Singer (regarding 40 Hz EEG activity) and Allen Braun (regarding fMRI studies of dreaming and creativity) both of which complement my discussion. Other neurobiologists contributed more indirectly to the dialogue (Joseph LeDoux, Laurence Weiskrantz, and Adrian Morrison). In retrospect, it may have been wise to solicit commentaries from neurobiologically committed sleep scientists whether or not they have any openly avowed interest in consciousness. Like the virtually pan disinterest in psychology, the physiology exists in a quasi-dualistic vacuum.
