Abstract
As seen in the last chapter, the system function of a pair of phased array sending and receiving elements describes in a simple fashion all the electrical and electromechanical characteristics of the sound generation and sound reception processes present in an ultrasonic measurement. In this chapter, we will show how system functions can be measured experimentally in a calibration setup where the corresponding acoustic/elastic functions are known.
