Abstract

This chapter summarizes the main results from Chaps. 2–4 and discusses what they reveal about galaxy formation and evolution. The implications on galaxy structure, merger history, and the black-hole-bulge correlation are all considered. Related future work that requires next-generation facilities like the James Webb Space Telescope, the Giant Magellan Telescope, and ALMA is discussed.
