Abstract
In recurrent erosions, stromal infiltrates are rare. The 3 patients presented in this chapter had previously known recurrent erosions in the involved eye, and 2 of them (Cases 1 and 3) had epithelial changes indicating propensity to recurrent erosions in the fellow eye. One cornea (Case 1) showed an infiltrate at presentation. In the remaining 2, infiltrates developed after onset of a new, spontaneous erosion; in both, they developed shortly after topical antibiotic treatment was started. Microbiological work-up did not reveal any relevant bacteria and the infiltrates resolved with addition of topical steroid. The infiltrates left superficial scars that, out of the visual axis, did not impair the visual acuity. In 1 patient (Case 3), shortly after the steroid was stopped, new infiltrates developed close to the scar.
