Abstract

An important historical fact is that the very beginning of the field of human electroencephalography (EEG) emerged directly from the field of psychiatry. Hans Berger was a biologically oriented psychiatrist with strong interests in the relationships between mind and body (Gibbs and Gibbs 1950).
