Abstract

Eigenvalue problems are ubiquitous in science and engineering; they occur whenever something is oscillating in a periodic motion. Historically, a very famous eigenvalue problem is related to the beautiful Chladni figures, which appear when fine grained sand or dust on a vibrating plate magically organizes itself to reveal the nodal lines of the vibrating plate.
