Abstract
In the previous chapter the kind of work was specified and involved one worker at a time. There are now several workers (B.264–270), except at the end (B.271–275). But the chapter heading is misleading: only the first two problems are concerned with stone-cutting (B.264–265); in the others, the kind of work is not specified (B.266–270) or is different (B.271–275). As before, there are two sets of either three or four quantities, with those of the first always given while, in the second, one or two are unknown; in the latter case we know their product, sum or difference, as often seen before.
