Abstract
Biodiesel production can be tremendously enhanced by process intensification technologies. Each of the process intensification technologies has the potential to improve the production efficiency and therefore reduce the investment and operating costs of the process. Moreover, the enhancement in transport processes and higher reaction rates allow the change from conventional batch processes to continuous biodiesel production, thus ensuring large production rates (Qiu et al. 2010; Kiss and Bildea 2012).
