Abstract
The purpose of a policy brief is to convince the target audience of the urgency of a current problem and to serve as an impetus for action for adopting a particular course of action. This chapter provides guidelines for constructing compelling policy briefs, including examples of briefs that connect the benefits of Medical Family Therapy (MedFT) to widely held goals to improve the healthcare delivery system. This chapter describes what a policy brief is, how to strengthen the analysis using relevant and meaningful evidence, and how to convince target audiences that your desired policy is urgently needed and aligned with their priorities.
