Abstract

In March 2013, the number of Australian homes with solar power systems passed the one million mark. For the many who have always advocated for solar, the milestone was a vindication. Indeed, with current solar panel efficiency, and average Australian solar insolation, a square with 31 km sides completely filled with solar panels would collect annual energy equivalent to Australia’s current annual electricity requirements. The conclusion could not be more obvious: the future is solar.
