Transport of Field Lines and Particles in a Stochastic Magnetic Field

Abstract

In this chapter the transport of field lines and charged particles in a stochastic magnetic field will be investigated. To study this problem we will use a test particle model in which no reaction of a plasma medium to particle motion is taken into account. In this simplified approach we derive the analytical formulas of the diffusion coefficients describing the radial chaotic transport of particles and investigate their validity using the numerical simulations.
