Abstract

Angela is a 58-year-old mother from northern California. In this chapter she discusses her experience with postpartum psychosis that resulted in the drowning of her infant son at 9 months. She was tried and found not guilty to charges of manslaughter and felony child endangerment, and since then has engaged in outreach efforts to educate others of the dangers of postpartum mental illness. Angela has two adult children, a daughter, 34, and a son, 26.
