Abstract
American higher education faces unprecedented financial, institutional, and political challenges. Meanwhile, many state governments and educational governing boards are plagued by inertia. At the core of this discussion is how leaders will help transform their institutions to respond to this evolving educational landscape. In an effort to address the need for higher education leaders to rapidly codify problems and embrace innovative solutions, this paper will discuss the concept of higher education leaders as designers.
