Abstract

The aim of this thesis was to explore the use of soft matter design principles for improved functionality of inorganic nanoarchitectures. The self-assembly properties of sacrificial block copolymers and colloids were employed as the structure-defining motive for the co-assembly of inorganic materials. This allowed detailed control over film thickness, porosity, pore dimensions and accessibility as well as crystal growth of the resulting inorganic material structures, all of which are decisive attributes for the performance of photonic and optoelectronic devices. This final chapter is dedicated to conclusive remarks and future outlooks.
