Theatre on the Hill

Zusammenfassung

Das Kurtheater liegt senkrecht zum Hang und wird vom oberhalb gelegenen Plateau begangen. Durch Ausnützung des Gefälles gelang es, das Foyer über die Seitenbühnen zu ziehen, d. h. der Besucher kann um den ganzen Komplex Bühne — Auditorium herumgehen. Die sanfte Trennung zwischen Vestibül, Foyer und Theatercafé erfolgt durch Niveauunterschiede. Die Wände zwischen Foyer und Auditorium sind verglast, um auch die Möglichkeit für Tageslichtveranstaltungen zu haben. Ein im Auditorium von der Decke bis zum Fußboden durchgehender Vorhang verdunkelt den Raum bei unerwünschtem Lichteinfall. Um dem Charakter eines Kurtheaters mit Sommersaison gerecht zu werden, kann man direkt aus dem Auditorium den umliegenden Park betreten.

Abstract

The health resort theatre lies perpendicular to the hillside and is accessed from the plateau at the top of the hill. The slope was used to position the foyer above the side stages, enabling the visitor to be able to walk around the entire stage-auditorium complex. The elevation difference creates a soft separation between the vestibule, foyer and theatre café. The walls between the foyer and the auditorium are glazed, making daylight events also possible. In the auditorium, a continuous roomheight curtain can darken the space when there are undesired light conditions . Complementing the character of a summer season health resort, one can explore the surrounding park directly from the auditorium.
