Abstract
An architectural education, analogous to an architectural career, is a collection of parts that comprise a whole. These parts include historical and contemporary precedents, academic environments, mentor influences, individual motivation, peer interaction, and exhaustive levels of research and analysis. This complex array of input requires tools to evaluate and acknowledge dynamic shifts in design culture that often occur fluidly. In this book we have emphasized the cycle of innovation, distinguishing between the iterative process that advances ideas and abrupt newness. It highlights various techniques that were essential for the development of design, assessing the smooth transitions, which emerged within Studio Greg Lynn.
