Abstract
My high-school physics teacher used to introduce the followup on the extremes of daily temperatures with the proposal for a new career path: Thermometer Watchdog. Those willing to apply had to possess enough willpower to read and write down the showings of an outside thermometer, such as in Fig. 7.1. for 24 hours a day (nights included).
