Definitionsgemäß ist die Sofortrekonstruktion der Brust, auch Primärrekonstruktion genannt, die Rekonstruktion von Form bzw. Volumen der Brust gleichzeitig mit der Resektion des Mammakarzinoms oder gleichzeitig mit der notwendigen Nachresektion von Brustdrüsengewebe in einer Operation. Dementsprechend kurz ist die Zeit zwischen der Diagnose Mammakarzinom und der operativen Tumorentfernung bzw. der Indikationsstellung zur weiteren Parenchymresektion. Sie ist oft zu kurz, um die Sofortrekonstruktion von Anfang an in das gesamttherapeutische Konzept mit einzubeziehen.
