Abstract

Locusts and grasshoppers arc very serious crop pests, especially in the Sahel. Irregular invasions cause damage that is often difficult to control. Control campaigns are based mainly on the use of chemical insecticides. The joint IITA/IIBC/DFPV project for the biological control of locusts and grasshoppers (LUBILOSA) is aimed at exploiting the possibilities of using oil-based formulations containing fungal sporc.s for microbiological control of acridoids.
