Abstract
In order to attempt to build a model of the bio-ecology of the desert locust Schisiocerca gregaria (Forskål 1775), it was necessary to start with the available information, recognising that it was not all of a scientific nature nor was it all published. Priority had to be given to local information and the assistance of locust specialists of many years’ standing.
