Abstract

Acute asthma is one of the most common conditions resulting in emergency room visits and hospitalizations in children. The direct economic burden of acute asthma is estimated to be 340 million dollars, and this cost does not take into account the cost of physician services, or the indirect cost of caretaker days lost from work and childhood school absences [1].
