Polypeptides and Proteins Active in the Coagulation Process

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Methods and Tools in Biosciences and Medicine ((MTBM))

Abstract

Snake venoms are known to contain a number of factors affecting blood coagulation. These venoms have been found to have potent effects on coagulation through both pro-and anticoagulant mechanisms (reviews: Kornalik, 1985, 1990; Seegers and Ouyang, 1979; Tu, 1977; Stocker, 1990a, b; Markland, 1991; Siigur and Siigur, 1992; Ouyang et al., 1992.
