Summary
In order to assess changes in myocardial blood flow and coronary reserve during dobutamine stress, 14 patients with coronary single vessel stenosis (> 70% by angiography) were examined by O-15 water positron emission tomography (PET) at rest and during maximal dobutamine stress (maximal dosis 40 µg/kg/min). Control regions (myocardium supplied by a normal artery) showed a 2.5 fold increase in myocardial blood flow during dobutamine stress due to a reduction of coronary resistance. In contrast, myocardial blood flow in regions supplied by a stenosed coronary artery did not increase significantly.
