Summary

Neonatal exposure of nicotine influences the development of nicotinic receptor subtypes in brain. The displacement curves of [3H]nicotine/(−)nicotine in adult mice cortex indicate both high and low affinity nicotinic binding sites for saline treated animals, while only high affinity nicotinic binding site for neonatally nicotine treated animals. Neonatal nicotine exposure also changes the behavioural effect of nicotine in adult mice.
