Summary

Uptake of an immunomodulator extracted from bacterium Nocardia opaca and labelled by Tc-99m was found in animal tumors as Walker carcinosarcomas. Experiences with detection of malignant tumors in men are reported. In 105 pts. suffering from different types of malignomas sensitivity of tumor scintigraphy of 97% was found if a cutoff of 1.30 for ratio tumor/ background radioactivity was chosen. The uptake seems to be correlated with tumor proliferation.
