Muon Transfer with a New High Pressure Gastarget

Abstract

The present situation of muon transfer to helium is summarized. A new gas target for a maximal pressure of 40 b with four thin beryllium windows for the detection of low energy photons is described. First results of an analysis of the time spectra of muonic carbon X-rays in a H2+CH4 gas mixture taken with the new target show a pressure dependent structure.
