Abstract

Intestinal infections with nematodes constitute one of the main medical and public health problems in Latin America, especially in the lower socioeconomic groups. Usually, physicians and public health authorities do not show special interest in the problem probably because, through the years, they have acquired a tolerant attitude towards the infection, have become accustomed to its high prevalence rates and have experienced difficulties in the eradication or the control of the infection.
