Abstract
A divided sample holder has been worked out for thermoanalytical investigations on solid. vapour reactions, which often involve experimental difficulties. It can he used in DSC and TG apparatus conveniently. One part of the sample holder contains the solid reactant, the other is for the liquid or solid source of the vapour. The gaseous compounds cannot leave the surroundings of the sample below a certain selected pressure. Reactions of formic acid and acetic acid vapours with sodium carbonate and calcium carbonate are described, using the results obtained with the divided sample holder.
