Appropriate Agricultural Development in an Indian Village

Abstract

Details are given of the aims and methods used to transform a typical Indian village from poverty and oppression to health, cooperation and self-reliance. Emphasis is placed on agricultural development and the provision of training and services for farmers. The difficulty of obtaining sufficient organic matter to replace chemical fertilizers is also stressed.

Cette étude présente les buts et méthodes employés pour transformer un village indien typique, c’est à dire pauvre et oppressé, en un village prospère où régnent la coopération et l’auto-détermination. L’accent est mis sur le développement agricole et l’infrastructure (éducation, services) nécessaire. Le problème majeur réside dans l’insuffisance de matières organiques recyclables qui permettraient de se passer complètement d’engrais chimiques.

Zusammenfassung

Die Umstellung eines typischen, armen und bedruckten Dorfes auf ein erfolgreiches Dorf, wo Gesundheit, Zusammenarbeit und Selbstverwaltung herrschen, wird dargestellt. Der Schwerpunkt wird auf die Entwicklung der Landwirtschaft und der Infrastruktur (Ausbildung, Dienstleistungen) gesetzt. Das Hauptproblem liegt im Mangel an rezyrkulierbaren organischen Materialien, um die Mineraldünger zu ersetzen.
