Durch die gesamte Geschichte hatten Zahlen einen gewaltigen Einfluß auf unsere Kultur und auf unsere Sprache. Tausende von Wörtern hängen offensichtlich mit Zahlen zusammen. Wir greifen einige Beispiele heraus:

ein Monolog ist eine Rede, die von 1 Person gehalten wird;

ein Bimetall ist ein Werkstoff aus 2 verschiedenen Metallen;
-
ein Triumvirat ist ein Bündnis von 3 Männern;
-
eine Quadriga ist ein Gespann von 4 Pferden;
-
ein Pentathlon besteht aus 5 athletischen Disziplinen;
-
ein Sextett ist ein Musikstück für 6 Instrumente;
-
ein Heptameter ist ein 7fußiger Vers;
-
ein Oktopus hat 8 „Füße“;
-
ein Nonagon hat 9 Ecken,
-
und das Dezimalsystem beruht auf der Grundzahl 10.
