Abstract
A prerequisite for the experimental study of transfection methods is the availability of good methods for preparing infective viral nucleic acids. Ideally, the viral nucleic acid preparations should
-
(a)
contain naked undegraded molecules of viral nucleic acid at high concentration,
-
(b)
be free of substances capable of inactivating the viral nucleic acid, and
-
(c)
be free of substances capable of interfering in any way with any of the transfection methods being studied.
