Proprioception from Chordotonal Organs in Crustacean Limbs

  • Chapter
Frontiers in Crustacean Neurobiology

Part of the book series: Advances in Life Sciences ((ALS))

Summary

Chordotonal organs are leg joint mechanoreceptors. They are composed by a various number of bipolar sensory cells grouped by pairs in scolopidia which are inserted on a moving strand. Their physiological properties are briefly summarized and a new in vitro CB chordotonal preparation is presented.
