Summary
The application of molecular genetics to complex human diseases such as cancer has led to important insights. For example, mutations which can transmit predisposition through the germline have been identified. In addition to this, the sorts of mutations which accumulate in the malignant progression of human tumors have been delineated and are now experimentally manipulable.
