Abstract
In 1960, two engineers working at the Perkin-Elmer Corporation were convinced that convential Differential Thermal Analyzers worked in the wrong way to give reliable quantitative results in that they required a lack of equilibrium in order to operate. In their minds, the right way to do DTA would be to hold the sample and reference temperature the same and measure the difference in power required to do this.
