Abstract

Biometricians have contributed much to statistical methodology that is of interest to workers in other fields. It has been well worth while, for instance, for statisticians in the physical sciences and in industry to read the biometric literature and to develop close contacts with outstanding biometricians like the man whom this volume is to honor. In the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, in particular, the lead of biometricians has been followed since the days of `Student’.
