Abstract

At the Madison Symposium there was only one contributed paper1) in tthis area. Since then the increased availability of polarized-ion sources has led to a sharp upturn in interest. Because of the newness of the subject this presentation will be aimed at the non-expert and will begin with a review of the general theory. Important special geometries will then be considered and some experimental results for these special cases will be mentioned.
