Abstract

Groups of 3 hens each were formed and one drug per group was applied (ronidazole, metronidazole, tinidazole and carnidazole, respectively). The drugs were applied via the drinking water with an estimated dosage of 10 mg/kg body weight and day. The hens were treated for 5 days; 24 h before slaughtering the medication was discontinued. The samples were collected directly after slaughtering. The muscle samples were taken in two different ways: i) portioned and directly deep-frozen; ii) portioned, stored at RT for 2 h, then stored overnight at +4 °C (18 h) and transferred to −25 °C the next day. The procedure ii) was chosen in order to simulate less careful/inadequate sampling conditions.
