Abstract
Confidential Government and Schools Inspector Heinrich Gotthülf Friedrich Graßmann was born on 22 May 1784 in Sinzlow near Greifenhagen. The first years of his life he lived in the bosom of the family of his father, the preacher Graßmann himself; but already in his ninth year he was sent to school in Stettin, and there first attended the Municipal Council Schools, later the Royal Lyceum, and indeed with such a good result that, already as a 16-year-old youth he could be released to the University. Sadly he had beforehand, on 3 August 1798, lost his father, and could therefore obtain only a little support from his mother.
