Abstract
The anchors, mooring lines, shackles and other associated connecting equipment should be designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with the published Class requirements. In instances where Class does not have published requirements, the equipment should be reviewed for compliance with applicable recognised industry standards. Complete details and supporting calculations, including fatigue analysis where applicable, of the structural and mechanical components used in position mooring systems (e.g., connecting links, shackles, chain stoppers, fairleads, etc.), which transmit the mooring loads, are to be submitted. All mooring system components such as anchors, anchor chains or wires, anchor chain accessories such as shackles or links, and anchor wire-rope accessories such as sockets or links, are to be manufactured and tested in the presence of and to the satisfaction of the Class approved Surveyor in accordance with Class approved plans.
