Abstract
The aim of this work is to evaluate membrane fouling classification through the main RIS models proposed in the literature for MBR systems. This study facilitates the understanding of the different approaches applied for membrane fouling modelling, while proposing a standardized nomenclature (state variables, mechanisms, model processes…) to be used during the modelling exercise to 1) enhance the comprehensibility of available models, and 2) facilitate the comparison and implementation of available and new models.
