Abstract
Emerging powers are becoming increasingly more assertive in world politics which is causing complex problems in the way the international system functions. What this chapter presents is that emerging powers and great powers are coming closer to engaging in war which could drag great powers into conflict once again. Emerging powers’ rise often creates conditions for conflict and thereby could result in great power conflicts since these emerging powers could and have the potential forge alliances which will ultimately lead great powers into conflict with each other. This possibility is argued as an emerging trend in world politics in the twenty-first century where the return of great power conflicts seems inevitable.
