Penile Color Duplex-Doppler Ultrasound in Erectile Dysfunction Diagnosis and Management

Abstract

This chapter focuses on the essential requirements for an ultrasound machine and provides guidance on the basic setup and adjustments necessary for conducting penile dynamic studies. Ultrasound imaging has become a valuable tool in the evaluation and diagnosis of erectile dysfunction. To ensure accurate and reliable results, it is crucial to have a properly equipped ultrasound machine and to adhere to specific setup protocols. Although most recent US devices have specific presets that may aid in the basic adjustments, it is important to be aware of parameters refinements necessary to obtain high-quality images and to provide trustworthy and reproducible findings. By adhering to these guidelines, clinicians and sonographers can enhance the accuracy of their diagnoses and improve patient care in the assessment of penile hemodynamics.
