Zusammenfassung
Lebenskrisen können aus vielen Gründen auftreten und scheinen universell zu sein. Sie werden von den Betroffenen oft als Verlust der Kontrolle über das eigene Leben erlebt und können zu schwerwiegenden psychischen und auch physischen Problemen führen. Wie in zahlreichen Studien gezeigt wurde, kann sich ein solches Ereignis aber auch als relevante Ressource für die weitere individuelle Entwicklung erweisen. Ziel dieses Kapitels ist es, zunächst zu beschreiben, was von den Befragten einer internationalen Studie (n = 39) als Lebenskrise definiert wurde. Besondere Zusammenhänge, die sich für die Teilnehmenden zwischen einer Lebenskrise und einer Schamerfahrung ergeben haben, werden aufgezeigt. Da davon ausgegangen wird, dass die Digitalisierung in diesem Zusammenhang weitreichende Auswirkungen haben kann, wird analysiert, ob und in welcher Weise digitale Medien eine relevante Rolle bei der Bewältigung der Lebenskrise gespielt haben. Geschlechtsspezifische Aspekte dieser Erfahrungen werden in diesem Kapitel ebenfalls untersucht, wobei auch unterschiedliche kulturelle Hintergründe und Perspektiven berücksichtigt werden.
Es ist ein weiter Weg, bis man sich in den Besitz des eigenen Ichs gebracht hat.
