Abstract

Scientific research administration can be as scientifically exciting as it is professionally rewarding but often is not recognized by life science graduate students as a career option. This chapter will explore what a scientific research administrator does, the skills necessary to succeed in the positions, how one advances to higher level positions, what training and resources are available, and a narrative of the author’s career in becoming a globally recognized scientific research administrator, all to unwrap the mysteries of careers beyond the bench.
