Zusammenfassung
Um sich erfolgreich in der sozialen Welt zu bewegen, müssen Menschen in der Lage sein, angemessene soziale kognitive Prozesse zur Steuerung des Verhaltens einzusetzen. Dies beinhaltet die Fähigkeit, das Verhalten und die sozialen Dispositionen von sich selbst und anderen wahrzunehmen und zu verstehen, und diese Wahrnehmungen in den Kontext der eigenen zwischenmenschlichen Normen zu stellen, bevor ein Verhalten ausgeführt werden kann. Aufgrund seiner Komplexität wird die soziale Funktion durch eine Reihe von Faktoren beeinflusst, einschließlich Schlafmenge und -qualität. Unsere Gesellschaft steht derzeit vor einer Schlafmangel-Epidemie, und leider kann solcher häufiger und kumulativer Schlafmangel drastische Auswirkungen auf die soziale Funktion des Einzelnen haben. Schlafmangel beeinträchtigt die Entscheidungsfindung, Selbstregulation und emotionale Verarbeitung – all dies wirkt sich auf soziale kognitive Prozesse aus. Dieses Kapitel bietet einen prägnanten Überblick über die verfügbare Literatur, die Schlafmangel im Kontext von sozialer Kognition und Urteilsvermögen bewertet. Es wurde gezeigt, dass Schlafmangel Vorurteile, Voreingenommenheit und ethisches Verhalten demaskiert. Darüber hinaus hat Schlafmangel erhebliche Auswirkungen auf die soziale Entscheidungsfindung und prosoziales Verhalten wie Vertrauen, Verhandlungen, Altruismus und allgemeine Teamdynamik. Forschungsbemühungen in diesen Bereichen sollten naturalistische Testparadigmen und Schlafpläne nutzen, um ein umfassenderes Verständnis der komplexen Beziehung zwischen Schlaf und sozialer Kognition zu erlangen.
