Abstract
As emergency physicians, our professional ambitions vary, and, thus, our paths to professional and personal self-actualization will differ. Regardless of one’s current or future path, setting specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based (SMART) goals will help all become their desired selves. The SMART method of establishing goals facilitates purposeful action and provides a clear path to accomplishing them. Furthermore, the SMART method eliminates uncertainty and ensures established time parameters for each goal.
