Abstract
Locum Tenens means “to hold a place.” Emergency medicine physicians can work as temporary placeholders within any emergency department. This type of position has many pros and cons. Locums physicians tend to earn more per hour than their standard employed counterparts but must also be flexible with travel and short work assignments.
