Abstract
Monitoring of green spaces in the city has become more important considering the growth of areas with buildings and the reduction of green spaces. GIS technologies are effective tools for analyzing and monitoring the green infrastructure of cities. This study presents assessment results of the accessibility within 500 m and 1000 m of parks and green spaces with an area larger than 2 ha and in Kharkiv, Ukraine. OSM, the open geospatial data, and the QGIS program were used for the analysis. Territories with accessible green areas larger than 2 ha with buffer of 500 m make up 62% of the city's area. Using geospatial analysis, we have identified areas of the city with unsatisfactory access to green spaces, namely, the Saltivka district and the Nemyshlianskyi district. The EO Browser application has been used for monitoring green spaces. EO Browser has allowed to evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively the changes that had taken place in the selected area. The main features that have been evaluated are the coverage of green spaces over time, the NDVI index, the state of green spaces, and microclimatic temperature regime in the North Saltivka area of Kharkiv.
